RET, YSP Applications Available
CURENT is now accepting the 2017 applications for the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) and the Young Scholars Program (YSP). Exact dates for the program will be determined later in the fall. Each program will be 4 weeks long.
The YSP program is for rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, and students entering into the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for the fall of 2017. The program provides students with an introduction to college research through pre-designed projects, research seminars, graduate student mentoring, and project reviews and presentations. The program also provides social gatherings and field trips to local power and energy industries. This program does not provide housing but will provide parking passes. More information about the program and the application can be found on the official CURENT YSP website.
The RET program is for high teachers who are interested in learning about the power grid and who would like to incorporate electrical engineering concepts and knowledge into their classrooms while promoting a better understanding of the power grid. The program will teach about engineering, general electricity concepts, historical aspects of the power grid, and modern research. Teachers from outside of East Tennessee may apply. Housing for a limited number of people will be provided and parking passes will be provided. More information about the program and the application can be found on the official CURENT RET website.
